🏴 What’s Vula Viel about? I feel that this music is driven by a hope of the peaceful world and also by an eternal essential feeling. Would you like to find it inside?
The world of Vula Viel is turning around the Ghanaian gyil, a kind of balafon with a distinctive smooth sounding. The trio consists of Bex Burch, the frontwoman who actually plays gyil; Ruth Goller (bass) and Jim Hart at the drums kit. Various vocalists and guests goin Vula Viel on their way.
Notice the juicy bass as it perfectly joins the gyil, unexpectedly to me. The drums and percussion are involved intelligently to make a nice background for a natural sound of the main instrument.
I really enjoyed watching Vula Viel’s videos. The mallets in Rebecca’s steady hands are moving so artistically, forcing the pulse to follow the beats. Sometimes she goes fast and wild and it looks great!
