🏴 Theon Cross is the guy whose tuba makes the air swinging. Whatever the instrument joins the team, it follows deep vibes coming out that brass cone.
Fyah is a story told by the duo of tenor saxophone and tuba with drum lines. Featured by trombone, percussion, guitar and effects, this ensemble is telling a story that never ends. It’s something contemporary British, but in the same time having a soul born in New Orleans.
The sound is so deep that it activates your heart immediately. Travelling through Fyah, you never know what you are going to encounter. It’s a surprising album rich in connotations and experiments.
For those of you who are even not fans of jazz, Theon’s work may be of interest. It’s bold but accurate, intelligent in details.
