Only in the Selected Goosebumps blog, it happens that we are listening to the spring in the fall days.

1. Rudy Adrian โ€“ A Walk in the Shadow Garden (2023)

๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฟ We are beginning this episode with the very spring music. Our path starts in the shadow garden and goes through the valleys and across the hills, leading to the wonderful places. At certain point of the journey, you’ll wonder if you are still in spring or the winds carry you back to the autumn. It’s a brilliant phase of timelessness, when you can enjoy the nature and nice music which is surrounding you. It is tenderly touching your soul and bringing freshness to your daily routine.

2. Oddplay โ€“ Inherited (2023)

๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ฌ This time the Varna based band decided to surprise the audience by abruptly changed vector of movement. Yet they still play powerful guitar rock. But the “Inherited” album shifts the emphasis towards the traditional Bulgarian music. It becomes organically merged into the band’s style. And there came the voices. Both the guitarist and the bassist sang on this album, not to mention sonorous female vocals performed by Yasmina Dimitrova.

3. Megalith Levitation โ€“ Obscure Fire (2023)

๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡บ The endless ritual continues. This time a group from Chelyabinsk goes in search of fire. Descending into a gloomy dungeon, they discover an abyss. There the breath of the Earth is emerging and embracing the travelers. The trio is once again in no hurry, allowing the riffs to resonate with the seething magma that does not break out, but accumulates its crushing energy. Walk along the caldera’s edge and manage not to fall down.

4. Martin Kohlstedt โ€“ Feld (2023)

๐Ÿ‡ฉ๐Ÿ‡ช We complete the month of March with a new release by a digital romantic from the city of Weimar. This is not just a collection of tracks, as the author considers this album a living organism. Its breath comes through the sounds of the keys and effects. Its pulse is destined to accompany the listener throughout the record. As always, classical piano is augmented by electronics. This time, the acoustic parties seem remaining in the shadows longer. However, their role is not lost but highlighted.

5. Schroothoop โ€“ Macadam (2023)

๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ช The story of discarded items has received a new round. The Brussels trio delved into instrumentation and seeks out the most unexpected sounds. Flutes and other brass, strings, drums and percussion, all assembled from broken and obsolete stuff. They picked old utensils and things like tubes or pots made of metal and plastic and less obvious materials. Sometimes this artsy instruments echo African or Asian folk instruments, while in other compositions they sound unique indeed.

6. Grin โ€“ Black Nothingness (2023)

๐Ÿ‡ฉ๐Ÿ‡ช The Oberg couple presents their black album. To be precise, this is a pithy EP that is simply bursting at the seams from the potential energy stored in it and boosted by amplifiers and pedals. Release it and turn into the kinetic energy of your body. Catch an impulse able to launch you into the stratosphere. Did the duo guess that their work was full of physics? It’s physics of elastic oscillations and heavy particles.

7. Nadsat โ€“ Torn Times (2023)

๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น Another heavy opus in a row. It’s time to add momentum, pace and fury. We won’t speed up too much, let’s better dive into guitar roars and insistent rhythm of the drums. Minimalistic noise with hardcore flavor performed by Italians still turns on and gives a slap in the face. “Torn Times” is a name that simply speaks for itself. We live in such times, don’t we? So the duo certainly made the day with this outstanding update! Notice the shift in style between previous album and current one. I admit both are damn good!

8. Herknungr โ€“ Fallen (2023)

๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง Here is the next April born release. Briton Alex McCree turns over another page of ancient legends. We find new musical sketches about the Vikings, their campaigns, victories and defeats. Meet a universe filled by echoes, rustles, subtle mystical traces scattered here and there. Once they gather, a mosaic is being assembled into the big picture. It’s epic and glorious. Be part of the story and plunge into the frozen expanse of time. That’s the secret power of the record that you are going to feel yourselves.

9. Orsak:Oslo โ€“ In Irons (2023)

๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ช Mysterious numerology continues. Assigning numbers to their tracks, the Swedes are stubbornly moving towards three-digit values. “In Irons” is told to be their first full-length album. However, the structure is not so important when it comes to an eternal journey. Apparently, it has phases and periods, but it still does not matter which track is first one anะฒ which is the second. This axiom is perfectly illustrated by the final composition on the album. It occupies the entire space and fills it with cosmic vibration.

10. Helicon โ€“ God Intentions (2023)

๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง Our episode ends with a monumental work from Scottish gurus. As always, it is a brilliant synthesis of selected pure rock, heavier passages and magical sitar parts. Intelligent psychedelia is heading up towards the skies and floating clouds. It’s an ongoing movement from a foggy past to an unknown future. Saddle up the magic carpet and fly away from the Earth into the vastness of the ether. The crew had already given the command to take a comfortable position and close the eyes.
