Our sixth episode embraced five distinct albums from all corners of the planet. All these songs are sharing a hope for peace and harmony. Some of the artists declare these values while others just saturate their music with the voice of love.

1. Susso Seki Singh – Orange Sunshine (2022)

🇬🇲 🇫🇷 🇮🇳 The first masterpiece for this collection is created by three masters coming from the opposite parts of the globe. Jally Kebba Susso from Gambia plays kora, the instrument of the Frech musician Andrea Seki is the harp, while Kiranpal Singh from India is great with santoor. The patterns assembled by these three voices are evolving all the way. Listening attentively to the composition, you’ll appreciate intonations and their variations originating from the strings. Designed by the distinct traditions, they are now gathered in one action, free and spiritual.

2. Safa – Deedar Yar (2023)

🇨🇦 🇮🇷 🇵🇰 The Safa project is a mesmerizing union of the East and the West. The Persian musical and poetic heritage is being resurrected and reinterpreted by the trio. Having their roots in Iran and Pakistan, Amir Koushkani and Hamin Honari bring oriental passion and virtue. Canadian clarinetist François Houle organically joins the precious tunes born with the help of the traditional strings (namely, tar and setar). Percussion by Honari adds authentic rhythms. In some compositions, you’ll hear the Amir’s vocals which makes the music even more heart-pleasing.

3. Sinan Cem Eroglu – Akustik (2022)

🇩🇪 🇹🇷 Sinan Cem Eroglu is a Turkish multi-instrumentalist, currently living in Hamburg, Germany. Within his acoustic album which received the same title, he switches between Eastern instruments (kaval, kopuz, lavta) and classical guitar to reach a peak of sensuousness. It is not just a dialog between the author and his imagination. It’s rather a story which involves a listener as well, who is being captivated during the whole session. Moreover, the spirit of the world takes part in this feast of light and inspiration.

4. Valentina Bellanova – Eremos (2022)

🇮🇹 🇩🇪 Our next stop is Berlin, Germany. Here we meet Valentina Bellanova, Italian born musician, composer and teacher. Her solo album absorbed previous and current experience, allowing various techniques and approaches follow each other throughout the recording. Thus early and medieval European music travels hand in hand with Arabic and Middle Eastern motifs. In some parts, the sound seems canonical, while it has always a room for improvisation and wide experiments occuring here and there.
