In this episode of out Chronicles, we are going to gather next 10 albums. All of them were issued by heroes of our previous publications in November, 2022.

1. Phantom Handshakes – A Passport to Remain (2022)

🇺🇸 Let’s start this episode in the New York city. In the very beginning of November, this duet that we spotted at some point, released the new album. In addition to autumn drowsiness, there is a quiet summer joy and distorted daydreaming. Here you are going to get stuck in fantasies, both from the past and from the vague future. Possibly, the times are crossing when listening to Phantom Handshakes. Moreover, you might encounter yourselves from a parallel reality, also listening to something by Federica and Matt.

Previous masterpiece by Phantom Handshakes, “No More Summer Songs” (2021), in our Vanishing in Dreams episode.

2. Gleb Kolyadin – The Outland (2022)

🇷🇺 Gleb’s latest opus is undeservedly rare on the web. For his third work, the author engaged not only his wide imagination, but also the richest palette of musicians. Tony Levin and Gavin Harrison, Ilya Gindin, large string ensemble and “Collegium Cantus” choir, and more. In sum, it turned out to be something exactly as heterogeneous as the composition of participants and guests. There was also a place for Gleb’s native verse, namely modern neoclassical, but progressive sound and eclecticism are met everywhere. “The Outland”, you can’t call it anything else.

3. Pêtr Aleksänder – The Whole World Laid Out Before Me (2022)

🇬🇧 The logical continuation leads us to the British Isles. We are glad to meet this duet once again. Just to remind, there is neither Peter nor Alexander, but a special balance between acoustics and effects, between breathing and silence. One more time, minimalism envelops the keys and the strings and carries us away. Welcome to the second bottom of global chaos and the first world in which you would like to stay. Or stay longer, it depends, as the sound of Pêtr Aleksänder is truly endless and interminable, find out for yourself.

4. Onségen Ensemble – Realms (2022)

🇫🇮 Yeah, we have a lot of progressive stuff in this episode! What is particularly interesting is the evolution of collectives that once embarked on the path of progressive. What will they give out next time? That’s the question which concentrates hope, aspiration and passion. Indeed, the Finns continue to magnetize with a full force, each time sounding differently. We will avoid any comparison and argument on what the differences are. All changes for the better, considering that the team remains true to itself!

Previous masterpiece by Onségen Ensemble, “Fear” (2020), in our Blooming in the Wild episode.

5. Vespero – Isosessions (2022)

🇷🇺 Isolation had burst into the musicians’ lives, literally turning the reality inside out. Instead of despairing and freezing out, at that time this team began to compose track after track, construct them from the parties which was recorded separately and delight fans with video clips. This is a wonderful album and one would barely recognize that it might appear during the lockdown, being unaware of this fact in advance. Great job and one of the best works by the ensemble so far.

6. Tim Linghaus – Yurusu (2022)

🇩🇪 Let’s take a short visit to Tim once again. Here we’ll taste the silence and the subtle rustles that scatter from the touch of his fingers on the keys. He reminds us about the meekness of the moment. What we are going to learn is that a graceful and vulnerable sound inspires no less than the swiftness of someone’s voice or the sunlight brightness. Well, these tiny moments make life. Sometimes they are dramatic, while others seem empty and dull. However, nothing is empty if a heart is bumping and the keys are moving back and forth.

🇹🇷 It’s time for bright colors and no less vivid emotions. You may not notice the elephant in the room, but the dragon will not be left without our attention. Do not try to saddle it, as you will immediately find yourself somewhere in the Middle East, and if you are lucky, in fiery Africa. 8. Life on Venus – Homewards (2022)

🇷🇺 We are meeting the beginning of December together with this Moscow born trio. Their new creation, as always, is in muted colors. We are going to reveal the whole universe hidden behind. Completely different compositions coexist on the album, connected by unite atmosphere. There was a place for synthpop, and indie rock, and artifacts from a past life, when everything was still before. At the end, find a song in the native language. It turns out that you can draw with silence at dawn! This is exactly what we will do.

9. Al Wootton – Artefacts (2022)

🇬🇧 A humble portion of fine electronics won’t hurt us. Outstanding British sound producer returns to share his artifacts. What a treasure it is. Taste these four tracks with enveloping textures, delicious as always. Among numerous digital thingies you’ll encounter the traces left by aliens from parallel worlds. Maybe this record was made by them but not by our hero Al. Anyways, it worth several listens in a row. Start from any piece you wish and forget about everything for a short while. Have a good trip!

10. Aukai – Apricity (2022)

🇺🇸 This touching opus from Colorado completes our episode. Markus Sieber and his team have been working hard enough to make sure you enjoy this release. Soft sound, the rustle of strings and their exclamations. They are flying in the wind, heading towards the lonely hearts. In addition to conventional guitars, Markus also involved in his recordings charango and ronroco with a characteristic South American flavor. You’ll hear not only these instruments but a rich set of others, adding the volume and peculiar sound.
