Jisr โ€“ Wah Wah! (2023)

๐Ÿ‡ฉ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฒ๐Ÿ‡ฆ The Munich based JISR project has always looked to the East (and to the South no less).

The binding “cement” for the group is European instrumental music, considerably enriched with jazz and German rock to a not lesser extent. However, these matters are not heard in their works as brightly as the oriental components, richly presented in each composition.

The influences of the Carnatic tradition of Southern India, Mediterranean currents, Gnawa from West Africa and Arabic maqam are clear here. The team is constantly searching and traveling around the world. Each expedition delivers precious material to Berlin and turns it into pure art.

JISR, like many other great communities, is committed to bringing together diverse cultures at its core. Both artistically and in terms of joint creativity with representatives of peoples scattered around the globe. On the second album, which we are enjoying today, the famous singer and composer R.A. Ramamani and oud master Roman Bunka joined the ensemble.
