🇬🇧 Today we will unsuccessfully try not to get lost along the way guided by Ivan The Tolerable.
Oli Heffernan, who releases his solo works under the name Ivan the Tolerable, is faithful to the tempo he once set. He releases several albums a year, each of them opening a small gate into an endless garden.
No matter which gate you pick, the same diverging paths await you. The only trick is that they are branching differently each time. Our goose has chosen for you not the latest for today, but the most tempting opus. It was released in the summer 2023.
The continuous preparation of the material started last year and required numerous loops. It turned out to be a real game. Participants took their turns, added efforts and each time returned the result for recycling until it was polished to its final state. After all, Oli does not work on his crystals alone as his teammates help him. On “Ritual In Transfigured Time”, you’ll hear Mees Siderius’ vibraphone and drums, Elsa van der Linden’s saxophone and flute, and James Putnam’s trumpet and French horn. The rest of the instruments and musical inventions are performed by the author.
