Shye Ben Tzur โ€“ Halel (2023)

๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ฑ ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ Our today’s hero creates art at the joint of cultures. He was born in New York and has been living between Israel and India.

Exploring ancient Sufism through his art, Shye has been combining the heritage of different peoples, weaving diverse voices with his own vocals.

Shye composes in the Qawwalis tradition, which has found expression in various languages such as Hebrew, Urdu and Hindi. In addition to the traditional, you will hear authorโ€™s unique features. They bring the sound closer to modern folk, improvised music or even beatboxing.

On the “Halel” album, Shye resorts to ever evolving โ€œloopingโ€ Overlaying and repeating channels gives the tracks unique effects, varying from ensemble style to hypnotic sound. The Sufi lyrics obtain background of Shye’s artistic breathing, exclamations, claps and sensitive parts for electric guitar, percussion or wind instruments.

The songs’ themes are sublime and at the same time universal. They appeal to a higher power, the search for truth and peace in a hectic and sinful life. In an eternal search, we will find ourselves in the Middle East, then in Northern India, and eventually again somewhere in the West, under the same Sun that has been following its path centuries and centuries ago.
