๐ฎ๐ฑ ๐ฌ๐ง ๐ท๐บ Please welcome a worthy contender in the nomination “the strangest album of the year”.
Staraya Derevnya is Israeli-British project run by its founder, Gosha Hniu who engages musicians from various areas.
You’ll barely call this songs, rather the rituals of non-existent tribes. It could be born either in Siberia, or on the slopes of the Andes, or in an old village hidden in Polynesia.
The lyrics are weird mixtures of Russian with a language of their own invention. The album is woven like a lace of cyclic musical phrases, which are made by a range of instruments and vocals. These elements are perched on top of each other. Sometimes they are playing cricket with each other. It’s better to slow down, calm the brain and give this food to the subconscious.
