🇺🇸 Somewhere in the middle of Brooklyn, a branch of the Silk Road has appeared. The local Baklava Express is going to deliver us to the Middle East.
This name was taken by a group of enthusiasts who interpret the traditional music of the Arab world, Turkey and Persia in their own way.
The quintet heartily involves influences from Eastern Europe, flamenco, and jazz. It’s a genuine fusion with a bright accent to the East. This album is a debut, but quite a worthy application for a warm response.
Among the compositions I’d mention a touching title track, as well as wonderful song named after the band itself, which closes the album, and a handful of others, including frisky “Up to Us” in a more Western key, and the romantic ballad “The Same River Twice”. The musicians use ethnic instruments (oud, violin, percussion), as well as “universal” ones: guitars, double bass and drums. A wonderful album, a journey towards the sun.
