🇦🇲 Djivan Gasparyan is the world-famous Armenian artist, true ambassador of unique precious folk music.
For decades his all-time companion is duduk – a double reed woodwind instrument made of apricot wood. Djivan has been travelled all around the planet, performing both solo and with orchestra of friends, students and virtuosos. He’s been collaborating with famous musicians and receiving full halls and rave reviews each time.
Conventional Armenian song written for duduk implies lead dudukist who retrieves melody and second party player who holds one particular note as a background. This creates extra sensual ambience and resonates with human heart.
Djivan Gasparyan has recorded a lot of albums, some in Soviet Union and afterwards throughout the world. In 2015, two great albums were re-released. Below you’re find both and to me, “Moon Shines At Night” is a brilliant apogee.
Djivan’s compositions are about life and death, love and hate, about pure happiness and fierce tragedies. Needless to say anything, just close your eyes and let your soul cry.
