Lachlan R. Dale – Shrines (2024)

🇦🇺 We are already familiar with Lachlan R. Dale as his other project, Hashshashin, has already appeared in our blog (check this article and our Chronicles episodes, here and there). However, this time we will enjoy completely different music.

The author’s talent is truly multifaceted. Lachlan composes and performs various music, manages two labels and several diverse projects. He is specializes in both experimental music and ancient traditions. That’s why in Lachlan’s aura, stunning post-metal is followed by drone, then something jazzy, and enigmatic melodies for the Afghan rubab afterwards.

This solo album is a collection of waves coming from the vast ocean onto a completely empty shore. Each of the compositions is leaving either a shell or a fragment of a branch or bubbles that shine only for a moment. The author’s friends and colleagues took part in the recording of each of the tracks. With the every next one, we hear a new voice, a new instrument, a new wave.

It is a dive into the subconscious and the eternal. It opens its arms and lets in wanderers who free their minds. This ethereal music is akin to classical, electronic, metal, post-rock, meditation and silence at the same time.
