Groupa โ€“ Kind of Folk Vol. 4 Iberia (2023)

๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ช ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ด ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡ธ The name for this series is noteworthy, “kind of folk”. On the one hand, it’s a hint that we will hear something specific. On the other hand, it is not necessarily folk in its purest form.

We have already met one of the participants of the project, Terje Isungset. Together with like-minded people of the Groupa project, he explores folk from different parts of the world.

The first three issues, as you might guess, were dedicated to Scandinavia. And this current one is about music from the Iberian Peninsula, which the northerners perform together with guests who are directly related to these traditions.

Among the unusual instruments, the Basque chalaparta and the Moorish adufe, a square-shaped drum, are noticeable. Not to mention precious percussion, flute and other winds, strings and one row accordion. The ensemble sounds diverse and inspiring. Everyone can find interesting pearls in this collection. Pay attention to the previous work of the team as well.
