Each album of these four brings fresh cold with the first its sound. However, listening to it deeply, you’ll feel warm immediately.
1. Terje Isungset โ Glacial Poetry (2022)
๐ณ๐ด What kind of musicians and their instruments our goose did not meet on its way. This album is likely the northernmost. What is the first thing that comes to mind when you think of the northern areas? For sure, snow and ice. Terje Isungset invites us to listen to their poetry. The album was recorded in an igloo, the ice house of the Eskimos, using instruments made of ice. It’s a variety of ice percussion and drums, ice horn and even an iceophone. The wider Norwegian Ice Ensemble includes also a harp, a cello, and electronics connected to the ice. You can see these props here.

2. Christina Galisatus โ Without Night (2023)
๐บ๐ธ This work seems to be woven from silence, elusive reflections of a candle flame and quivering moments when quiet breathing becomes inseparable from still time. From this atmosphere, short vocalizations and instrumental sketches appear, and more capacious forms alternate with them. It’s so easy to follow the narrative and switch between the wonderful singer’s voice and soft voices of instruments and back. A wonderful album at the junction of chamber music, jazz and a bit of folk.

3. Las Robertas โ Love is the Answer (2023)
๐จ๐ท Las Robertas invites us for a trip to a cozy place where we can fell better and better. Groovy rhythms and nice melodies are filling the album’s compositions. It’s great that the band balances between lightness and spaciousness, successfully combining indie rock, alternative and the ease of pop music. The mood of the tracks floats from calmness to cheerfulness and back. Sometimes it’s a little lightheaded, but you won’t regret it. This is kind of the treasure of unspent youth, coming back to life at any point of your track.

4. Ohyung โ Imagine Naked! (2022)
๐บ๐ธ This project is run by Robert Ouyang Rusli, an Asian composer extraordinaire based in New York. After working on soundtracks for several films and three wild albums, the time for a much calmer, but no less strange release has come. From the very beginning, it feels like you are falling into timelessness, and voluminous ambient takes you to one of its shore, and then to the other. You can drown and get out dry as well.
