This episode of our traditional “Out of the…” section touches the domains of stoner rock. As always, not exactly, not typical stoner rock. We just select six opuses of the full genre’s range, and go wider. Enjoy the stoner with us!

1. Desert Mammooth โ€“ Seed to Stoned (2020)

๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡น This Portuguese mammoth is heavy, but handsome one. The album seems exceptionally enjoyable blend of stoner and psychedelia. Power of riffs here is multiplied by hidden resonance. halt for a minute, and you’ll find it out yourself.

As the nomad caravan passes by, you can join it and spend some time in the mystic desert, where all directions mix wich each other under the cosmic sneeze…

2. Black Sky Giant โ€“ Falling Mothership (2021)

๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡ท Straight to Argentina, where Black Sky Giant is already waiting for us. So we are welcome to make friends.

This album really creates friendly atmosphere. Moderate space rock, accurate portions of distortion and pedals, slower and faster parts coming one after another.

Feel yourself a drifting cosmonaut lost somewhere in the outer space, hiking by yourself. Excited and impressed by the constellations everywhere around.

3. TarLung โ€“ Architect (2021)

๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡น Back to Europe, this time to Austrian capital, Vienna. TarLung’s style is way more complex than just regular stoner. For sure, there’s a place for doom and sludge, and for blackened stuff as well.

Thanks to massive growling, the sounding of the band’s fifth album, entitled “Architect”, occured to be terrific. Not surprisingly, you’ll feel the weight of gravity somewhere in the middle…

4. Jointhugger โ€“ Surrounded By Vultures (2021)

๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ด Let’s move to the North, namely to Norway. Jointhugger’s dark masterpiece is obliged to appear in this episode. Long compositions inspired by occult tales and adventures in empty space are thick so that you’ll get stuck in them.

For instance, pick “The Midnight”. Would you like to be eaten be the night? Another one, “Delysid Rex”, is no less catchy. Exhale with no rush, and your next sip of air will last longer and longer…

5. Orangotango โ€“ Kerintji – Sumatra Volโ€‹.โ€‹II (2021)

๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡น It’s time for something different. These Portuguese serve different fraction of stoner. Brighter and lighter in some sense, their music is sufficiently progressive to rack your brains.

Valongo-nased trio presents four tracks with the short titles, but not that compact format. True journey which you cannot get prepared for. Sheer surprise, plenty of unexpected transitions and touching riffs included.

6. Proyecto Alud โ€“ Rancho Relaxo (2021)

๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡ท Did you suppose to relax indeed? Hopefully you may. Check this album by Argentinians Proyecto Alud and tell us if’s done.

Well, “Rancho Relaxo” sounds pretty heavy. You’ll have time for both handbanging and reflections on your perishable life. Alone at this rancho, or in a good company that seems the same. Goosebumps guaranteed in any case!
