Four Picks. 4 Albums From the Reality’s Underside

These for albums comes from another layer of our reality. There, the times goes differently and thus we meet simultaneous echoes born in places distant from each other.

1. Steve Anderson โ€“ Journeyman’s Progress Part One (2023)

๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง The first album in this episode comes to us straight from Buckingham, which is located in central England. Steve Anderson shares with us his inventive mood, embodied in such a capacious album. It’s a pleasure to listen to this soft instrumental music, at times crawling under the blanket of elegy and nostalgia, and at other times quickly jumping out from under it and rushing into the domain of prog rock. You’ll find both modest sketches and more voluminous opuses for thoughtful savoring.

2. Emil Amos โ€“ Zone Black (2023)

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ Our next guest is Emil Amos from North Carolina. Some of you know him from the heavier projects Sleep and Om (the second is one of our goose’s favorites and has already appeared in our blog, as well as Grails, another Emil’s project). Emil’s solo album features the author’s signature sound as well. The record has sublime atmosphere and whimsical perspective. Perhaps this is the underside of overwhelming riffs. You’ll hear the remnants of a dozen movies of various kinds, sounding under an inexorable chronometer.

3. United Freedom Collective โ€“ Space Intention EP (2023)

๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง A short EP from a London-based band to lift your spirits. It’s a triumph of eclecticism and a choir of voices from the world, connected by subtle electronics on the verge of perception. We will visit West Africa, Hong Kong and Scandinavia, all even without opening our eyes.

4. Ricardo Dias Gomes โ€“ Muito Sol (2023)

๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ท Let’s wrap up on this slightly sweet and bitter note. It sounds exotic and casually at the same time. Feel the afternoon breath of South America in the echoes of slow samba and tunes in ghostly reverie. Together with Ricardo Dias Gomez we are discovering the green tones of the spectrum, and they are amazingly good. The rest ones are next in line.
