In this episode, we are exposed to severe attacks from all sides and angles. Various types of metal are thrown on our heads and ears. Let’s try to survive.
1. Passéisme – Alternance (2023)
🇷🇺 This wild album from Nizhny Novgorod is the first to come to hand. Bass virtuoso Konstantin Korolev is running the show here. We already know him for engagement in the Teufelskeller project. There he participates in the crossing of free jazz with desperate swotting, and in Passéisme he is delivering eccentric black metal. The frantic vocal parts are also his job. I’d say it’s black metal for techies, enriched by portions of maths and overdrive. No hairiness and no whining at all.

2. Evil Brain Taste – Number Two (2023)
🇬🇧 The madness goes on. This duo from the British town of Reading has prepared for you a caustic mixture of thrash, death and related things. Specific and not always British style humor brightens up the sensations of horror films and parodies of them as well. You’ll find such traces here and there throughout the record. It’s not that easy to stay serious and reckless in the same time.

3. Rotten Sound – Apocalypse (2023)
🇫🇮 Deathgrind veterans from Finland are back on stage and to the studio. Raw sound in the Nordic style, restless speed and the tracks length barely reaching up one or two minutes. Everything is pretty classic here. It’s the case when there is no need to change anything from the menu. The album is heard in one breath, or rather without breathing.

4. The Zenith Passage – Datalysium (2023)
🇺🇸 The fourth opus in this series is probably the most sophisticated. The album begins with refined technical death, seeming that it will last the same for all 45 minutes. However, that’s clearly not the case. Even in the first track, an intricate prog jumps out of nowhere or from a parallel reality. It binds torn pieces of inhuman stuff together, eliminating pauses and gulps of air.
