Four Picks: 4 Vivid Sights

We are traveling through the picturesque soundscapes created by four composers, each having a vivid sight.

1. Gom Jabbar โ€“ Some Ancient Power (2023)

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ฌ Our episode starts with a strange but nice album by a mysterious composer Gom Jabbar. According to himself, staying in one genre even within a single composition is too boring for him. Image what happens when it comes to an album. It is more than a mixture of things, with traditional acoustic instruments side by side with the synths. Imagination and passion are the powers which enliven the ideas, and you’ll find both of them in “Some Ancient Power”.

2. Marcelo Galter โ€“ Bacia do ะกobre (2021)

๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ท Welcome to the musical jungle! Here, the wild forms are thriving. They are rapidly sprouting through the seams of music, whether it happens to be of jazz, ethnic, or chamber origin. 3. Marlene Ribeiro โ€“ Toquei no Sol (2023)

๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡น Marlene is a member of the Gnod brigade which itself has already appeared in our blog a couple of times. This solo album is something special, seems a quintessence of author’s personal view, experience and aspirations. Her non-measurable art absorbs the matter from field recordings, jazz, electronics and some influences from traditional music and pours all into avant-garde dream pop.

4. Plato โ€“ Mosaico (2022)

๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น Our transition to the domain of electronic music concludes with a peculiar work by Italian sound producer Plato. It’s title speaks for itself. We have a true mosaic, comprising three alternating versions oะฐ the same initial idea. These reworks can be considered both separate compositions and the reflection of Plato’s ray of light. One more point to add, the writings are multi-layered, as there are a lot of allusions to the Eastern music besides European style electronics.
