π¬π§ I remember well the recordings from this project by Tim Waterfield at the times of the early “A Cheery Wave From Stranded Youngsters” compilations.
It was sort of an encyclopedia of the experimental British scene. Since then, a lot of water has flowed.
The album that we are listening today was issued in autumn 2023. On the one hand, here are all the depths and perspectives that thoughtful post-rock opens up.
On the other hand, if only the “post-post” construction makes sense, it would be just appropriate one. Perhaps this is a “requiem” for post-rock, or rather a timeless journey through its evolution. Everything that was heard by an enthusiastic listener fifteen years ago, embodies in a transformed version, having absorbed both the taste of early electronics and the burden of the path. A good reason to re-listen to lovely Karhide, starting with “Rift”.
