Les Conches Velasques – Sitio y Lacería (2023)

🇪🇸 Today we are listening to an album by the Spanish collective that deftly eludes boundaries and definitions.

Once you begin to get acquainted with the work of the team, it is easy to find yourself in some confusion. These melodies with repeating patterns are constantly returning to themselves. This they destroy the boundaries of time.

Sometimes it feels like we have gone back several centuries. You can hear bright Spanish, rhythmic African, and vague blues cues. They are echoed by lyrics from poets and thinkers of the past, and percussion begins to dance with these lines.

The question appears, where did we end up? That’s a point when the understanding comes. The time has stopped. We can directly feel the voice of art directed outward, calling to something eternal and silent. However, this album also contains enough instrumental variations that weave words into patterns.
