Upupayāma – The Golden Pond (2022)

🇮🇹 The first self-definition of the Upupayāma project that I came across reads “Music from the barn.”

The second one gives a little more detail. Behind this name lies the work of Alessio Ferrari, an inhabitant of a mountain village in the vicinity of Parma.

Alessio’s music has spread far beyond the borders of not only his village and region. It has reached listeners in various parts of the world and today is our turn.

The self-taught multi-instrumentalist experiments a lot, embodying ideas in his dimensionless compositions. Inside, guitar solos are saturated with the voices of various instruments, best suited for suddenly formed purposes. It could be a sitar, or some kind of flute, or maybe a Chinese erhu.

It’s difficult to put into words what the bottom line is. I’d rather give you a couple of images that became names for the compositions. For example, the opening one is “Cuckoos from the House of Golden Tin” while there is another, “A Healer’s Dream”. The question is, what is behind that? You will easily find your answer by starting to listen to this unusual music.
