While the first episode in this series was dedicated to mainly electronic music, this one is about acoustic beats. Experiments in drumming, percussion and synthesis of various kinds are ready to be listened to by you.

1. Valentina Magaletti & Julian Sartorius – Sulla Pelle (2019)

🇮🇹 🇬🇧 🇨🇭 It’s high time to tell you about Italian percussionist Valentina Magaletti, now living in London and joining forces with numerous talents, as well as performing solo. Today we are listening to the duet with Julian Sartorius. This is a dialogue that breaks down into hundreds of phrases and gathers again under the influence of its own internal logic. Here are the drums and the percussion and electronic effects living in a parallel dimension and coming to visit the acoustic world. What a brilliant experiment, born literally at the fingertips.

2. Hands in Motion – Dawn (2022)

🇧🇪 The Brussels trio share their inspiration which drives their diverse means of producing sounds. Here, in addition to more common percussion instruments (including darbuka, gongs, doholla), rarer ones (such as kalimba, berimbau, udu and others) are actively used. Throughout this wonderful album, the musicians keep searching for special things. At some point, the unison will be in the center of attention, and later on it will be the echo. Afterwards we will find ourselves in an imaginary musical maze from which we have to get out.

3. Eli Keszler – Live (2023)

🇺🇸 American musician Eli Keszler treats percussion as a sort of a device. It is capable of producing results, commonly corresponding to the author’s ideas. However, sometimes they tend to come unexpectedly, daring and developing on their own. We will be listening to a high quality recording of two of Eli’s performances, the first happened in Barcelona and the other one was in New York. During both oа them, vibrant textures appear one after another, giving way to new ideas and spontaneous creativity.

4. Crossfire Duo – Vellum (2023)

🇺🇸  Bob Fullex and Jason Bauers invite you to an unforgettable show. You’ll experience the revival of the instruments and objects involved in unusual sound production. This collection of recordings consists of compositions by Richard Festinger, Jacob Gotlib, Matt Sargent and Christian Wolff. In each single part, the sound goes through its evolution, rushing from a state of subtle fluctuations into the domain of an absolute avant-garde, difficult to comprehend and unearthly. Follow this line and dissolve yourselves.

5. Kilchhofer Anklin – Moto Perpetuo (2019)

🇨🇭 Let’s wrap up our episode with another collaboration, no less interesting. , Two great experimenters joined forces and established their creative union. Michael Anklin comprehends the boundless sound of percussion, while sound producer Benjamin Kilchhofer enriches the palette with his modular synths. However, they are used rather in electroacoustic way. Together, the masters decided to explore the impossible principle of endless movement. This investigations is performed through the sound and its various transformations.
