In this episode, we are dealing with the rays of various color and weights. Some of them seem tender while there are pretty heavy ones as well.
1. Popsysze – Emisja (2022)
🇵🇱 The first album of our episode is brought by our goose from Gdańsk, Poland. The red light is spreading from the horizon through the fog over the city, coming closer and closer to us. We aren’t living in good times. However, some good rock helps us not to go crazy. This time, more electronics and percussion contributes to more powerful sound, while it still stays translucent and touching.

2. Overmorrow – Galápagos (2023)
🇭🇺 We move along the European diagonal and find ourselves in the Hungarian city of Pecs. Nice EP with a geographic title, but not about volcanoes, finches and turtles. It’s mostly instrumental (the title track adorns Sarah Minor’s vocals), with a variety of guitar delights that jump from psychedelia to post-rock and back. It’s all heard in one breath of the wind.

3. Saddhu – Incense (2022)
🇨🇱 Since our path lies towards South America, it is worth dropping into the Chilean capital to visit the local magician Bastian Basaure and his comrades. By and large, here you will not hear prog, black, shoegaze and post-metal. But you will feel the breath of all these musical phenomena. What’s more, the EP features Indian sitar, Chinese erhu, and a host of other pleasant surprises.

4. Huracan – We Are Very Happy (2022)
🇧🇪 This Ghent band’s approach to music is special. While staying heavy and mighty, the songs are rich in ideas coming from everywhere. You’ll meet even some kind of rock’n’roll. Such eclecticism is both in music and especially in vocal parts, when clean vocals alternate with growl and scream. Interestingly enough, the cheerful title contrasts with the obviously gloomy stream of light emanating from this music.
