Al-jiçç – ٤ (2018)

a2938843666_16🇵🇹 It’s time to cast the line and try to catch some pearls, despite dank winter: Al-jiçç gives us warm promising atmosphere.

Al-jiçç is a quartet based in Lisboa, Portugal – a place where east meets west, perfectly known as an intersection of cultures with diverse musical traditions. And also jazz in its evolution gladly absorbs Klezmer, arabic, or, say, oriental reverberations. Music by Al-jiçç reflects all of these, taking us aboard  mediterranean caravel heading straight to bazaar.

This record contains new compositions as well as four previously unreleased tracks,  revived and re-worked.  Thus we can follow all the history of Portuguese collective and find Sephardic melodies enriched by improvisation and electricity.

٤ stands for four (the fourth album) and it’s a decent job to start your week with.
